Senior AI Integrations & Automation Engineer
Cloudinary is building a modern internal business-systems capability inside the MIS function, and this role is at the center of it. You will build and operate the AI and automation infrastructure the company runs on. As well as build the apps, agents, and workflows on top of it that put it to work.
This is not an R&D or product role. Your customers are internal — the teams and process owners across Finance, HR, GTM Operations, Security, and IT who depend on well-integrated systems and intelligent automation to do their jobs. You’ll work directly with them to turn real problems into shipped solutions.
A senior individual-contributor role reporting to the VP of MIS (CFO Office).
Key Responsibilities
The platform. Build and maintain the shared integration and automation infrastructure layer that connects our internal systems and exposes them to AI safely - reusable connectors, reliability, security, and observability.
The solutions. Build internal tools, automations, and AI agents on top of it — integrations across enterprise SaaS (Salesforce, NetSuite, Slack, Okta), and LLM-powered workflows for things like triage, provisioning, document processing, and reporting.
The right tool for the job. Low-code/iPaaS, custom code, or a hybrid — whatever delivers value fastest and stays maintainable, with responsible-AI practices throughout.
Deliver MVP-first and iterate on real usage; favor pragmatic, simplicity-first solutions over over-engineering
Own what you build end to end — design through production support — with documentation others can maintain
Communicate trade-offs clearly, and quantify the value you deliver
In scope: the internal AI-integration and automation platform and everything built on it; business infrastructure for teams across Finance, HR, GTM, Security, and IT; integration reliability and observability.
Out of scope: physical IT operations (device provisioning, inventory, AV) and endpoint/office IT support.
The role spans two connected layers, and you’ll move fluidly between them:
How You’ll Work
Scope
Requirements
7+ years in integrations, business systems / MIS, or systems engineering within SaaS environments, with senior-level ownership
Hands-on experience integrating systems you don’t control — their APIs (REST, GraphQL, webhooks), auth flows, rate limits, and imperfect data
Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript (Node.js/TypeScript)
Experience with low-code/iPaaS platforms (Workato, Zapier, Make, Tray) and judgment about when to use them vs. custom code
Experience with AI-to-system integration standards (e.g., MCP)
Familiarity with enterprise systems (Okta, Salesforce, NetSuite, Google Workspace) and with IAM/OAuth, API security, and compliance (SOC 2, ISO, GDPR)
Practical experience building AI-powered workflows, tools, or agents in production
Working understanding of LLM systems — orchestration, tool/function calling, RAG — and a clear sense of when AI is and isn’t the right approach
Deliver in days and weeks, not months: MVP, iterate, scale
Comfortable operating in ambiguity with minimal existing scaffolding
A service mindset toward internal stakeholders, with strong communication and a high bar for documentation and maintainability
Self-driven, proactive, outcome-oriented, and collaborative
Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical definitions and scope
Experience building or operating an internal AI/integration platform used by other teams
Exposure to event-driven architectures or data pipelines
Relevant certifications (e.g., Okta, Salesforce, Workato)
