<br>Location: Germany<div><br></div><div>What You’ll Do</div><div><br>Lead system engineering across the lifecycle—from CONOPS, use cases, requirements, and ICDs, through architecture, design reviews, integration, verification, and qualification.<br>Define and integrate optical communications solutions into radio-based products, ensuring seamless interoperability and performance.<br>Collaborate across disciplines (optical, RF, software, networking, cyber, mechanical, etc.) and with product/program teams.<br>Author SE deliverables: system specs, ICDs, test plans/procedures, acceptance criteria, user/ops considerations, and contribute to certification/qualification documentation.</div><div><br>What You’ll Bring</div><div><br>Deep expertise in optical communications (free-space optics, fiber-optic systems, modulation formats, photonic devices, link budgets, BER/OSNR, availability).<br>Proven system engineering experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary communication systems from early concept through integration and acceptance.<br>Excellent technical writing and communication skills; comfortable leading reviews and driving decisions across stakeholders.<br>Open innovation mindset: experience working with external partners, startups, or research groups to evaluate and integrate new technologies.<br>Tooling: MATLAB/Simulink, scripting (Python), optical/RF test equipment and automation—an advantage.</div><div><br>Qualifications</div><div><br>BSc in Electrical/Communications Engineering/ Physics (or related). MSc is an advantage.<br>5+ years in system engineering for optical or advanced communications systems.<br>Eligibility for security clearance.<br>Languages: Fluency in English is required, while proficiency in German is considered an advantage.<br><br><br></div>
