The Materials Engineer will lead material selection, qualification, and process integration activities for automotive imaging radar and RF chips. This position bridges the hardware and semiconductor domains, ensuring that materials used in PCBs, housings, and electronic assemblies meet electrical, mechanical, and reliability requirements for high-frequency and harsh automotive environments. The engineer will collaborate with R&D, production, and suppliers to develop robust, scalable, and cost-effective material solutions.

What will your job look like?

  • Define and qualify materials for PCB substrates (high-frequency laminates), mold compounds, sealing adhesives, underfills and encapsulants
  • Support selection of semiconductor packaging and module materials including die attach, molding, and thermal interface materials (TIMs)
  • Evaluate electrical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics of the materials
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure material compatibility with PCB assembly, molding, coating, and assembly processes
  • Define process parameters and material handling procedures for mass production
  • Support yield improvement, cost reduction, and process optimization through material-related solutions
  • Support reliability testing: temperature cycling, humidity, vibration, and thermal shock
  • Work with hardware, mechanical, packaging, and RF engineers to ensure materials meet electrical, thermal, and structural design requirements
  • Maintain and update material databases, specifications, and validation documentation

All you need is:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Materials or Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Experience of 8+ years in materials engineering and mass production process
