Job Description
Under the general supervision of a senior staff member in Center for Mathematical Sciences (CMS), the incumbent is responsible for the statistical analysis and evaluation of data to meet the needs of our company’s Manufacturing Division. The individual will, through consultation with employees and teams, provide statistical expertise on experimental design, and the evaluation and interpretation of data. As required, the incumbent will evaluate data for submission to regulatory agencies and pharmacopoeia.
Primary Activities
- Independently collects, organizes and summarizes data for projects.
- Performs basic statistical analyses such as ANOVA models, process capability and control, linear regression, ANCOVA for stability studies.
- Generates a wide variety of statistical graphics adapted to the need of the statistical project. Independently applies basic and advanced statistical techniques and graphics and recognizes the need for more sophisticated methods.
- Develops or adapts sophisticated techniques to meet the needs of specific projects. Independently writes or adapts basic statistical programs to perform analyses and to create graphics.
- Independently performs simulations (e.g. Monte Carlo techniques).
- Mentors junior staff members in the application of basic and advanced methods and graphics.
- With experience, prepares and conducts training courses and seminars throughout our Manufacturing Division to familiarize scientists and management personnel in the understanding of statistical techniques and methods.
- Proposes design of experiments and analysis plans through consultation with our Manufacturing Division's personnel and teams.
- Contributes to the generation of objectives and hypotheses to be evaluated via statistical studies.
- Independently prepares oral and written reports to effectively communicate study designs and the interpretation of analyses.
- Conducts second person reviews of the formal reports of other CMS members as qualifications and experience permits.
- Performs data verifications to ensure compliance with auditing requirements for all data analyzed for a project that results in a second person reviewed report.
- Reviews literature and attends appropriate seminars and classes to develop and maintain the necessary skill levels.
- Assists with senior members' publications or presentations.
- Contributes work at the level of a poster session and occasionally will contribute a talk to a professional society meeting.
- Participates as a full member on internal teams providing statistical expertise.
Minimum Education Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in statistics or related field with ten (10) years of required experience, OR
- Master of Science (MS) in statistics or related field with five (5) years of required experience, OR
- PhD in statistics or related field with no required experience.
Please note: Coursework and/or experience should include industrial statistics (DOE, SPC, regression, general linear models, and multivariate methods, computer programming).
Required Skills and Experience:
- Excellent statistical computing skills with substantial experience in at least two of the following statistical software packages: SAS, S‑Plus/R, JMP, Minitab.
- Ability to work independently and on teams using effective consulting skills.
- Ability to think originally and imaginatively in developing creative solutions in completing projects.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to communicate statistical concepts and analyses to non-statisticians.
- Requires demonstrated leadership, ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously with competing priorities.
- Ability to manage meetings, time and personal effort effectively.
- Possess the skills to persuade and motivate others.
- Requires advanced problem solving and proficient decision-making skills.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The salary range for this role is
$126,500.00 - $199,100.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
