NVIDIA is now looking for a hardworking student to join our Advanced Research Group. Low-power interconnects are crucial for data centers and AI factories. The integration of

(PICs) with electronic integrated circuits (EICs)—known as Co-Packaged Optics (CPO)—has become essential for achieving this goal. Today, CPO technologies are deployed at the networking level (scale-out), and they hold great potential to transform chip-to-chip communication (scale-up).

A key enabler for this vision is the development of new laser sources, such as optical frequency comb lasers, which can generate multiple wavelengths for DWDM links.

At NVIDIA’s Advanced Research Group, we are developing, designing, and characterizing comb lasers to make this technology a reality. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research with real impact on the future of AI infrastructure and data-center interconnects.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Measure and characterize discrete and integrated comb together with silicon photonic (Siph) devices in both electrical and optical domains in a state-of-the-art optical high-speed lab.
  • Design and execution of new experiments, lab automation and data analysis.
  • During your work, you will participate in the process of bringing up a new technology from the R&D stage, to the Engineering and production, this is an opportunity for close collaborations with both Nvidia researchers and Engineering teams taking our products and implementing them into the final products.
  • You will be working with a highly skilled group of engineers and physicist proficient in the multi-disciplinary field of silicon photonics.

What we need to see:

  • Students at the beginning of their M.Sc./PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics with experience in optics.
  • Matlab or Python proficiency and willingness to work in any needed programming language
  • Creativity in finding solutions to tough problems.
  • Interest to work in lab environment.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Optical Lab experience
  • Experience in lab automation and instrument control.
  • The ability and desire to learn new fields.
  • Strong communication skills and ability & desire to work as a great teammate are a huge plus.

NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world’s most desirable employers. We have some of the most forward-thinking and hardworking people in the world working for us. If you're creative, autonomous and love a challenge, we want to hear from you.

NVIDIA is committed to fostering a diverse work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
