Senior Backend Engineer — Prediction-Market Infrastructure

About the Role
We are looking for a senior engineer to help lead the build of Plaee Markets — the gateway that connects institutional liquidity providers to every major prediction-market venue. Working directly with the CTO, you will design and build the backend that powers cross-venue execution, market-making, and real-time market data: consolidated orderbooks, smart order routing, a reference-rate service, and pre-trade risk.
This is deliberately hands-on — you will spend most of your time designing and writing production systems and solving hard distributed-systems problems, while owning architecture decisions that are still genuinely open. Our application tier is TypeScript today; new execution and blockchain services are being built in Go, so you will work across both.
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance backend services (Go for new services; TypeScript across the existing platform)
- Develop the cross-venue liquidity gateway for the prediction-markets ecosystem
- Build integrations with exchange APIs, venue protocols, real-time market-data feeds, and on-chain settlement where relevant
- Design scalable, event-driven microservices over a modern message bus (Kafka/NATS)
- Implement reliable workflow orchestration (Temporal or similar)
- Build resilient services for order execution, settlement, and market connectivity
- Design and optimize distributed systems for scalability, reliability, and low latency
- Write automated tests, observability, monitoring, and operational tooling
- Collaborate closely with the CTO on architecture, technical decisions, and platform evolution
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional backend development in Go or Node.js/TypeScript
- Strong experience designing and building distributed backend systems that are correct under load and failure
- Solid PostgreSQL experience
- Experience with a message bus (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or similar)
- Comfortable with containerized services (Kubernetes or similar) and modern CI/CD
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production-support skills
- Comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) in your daily workflow
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

- Blockchain/Web3 experience — smart-contract integration and production transaction processing on EVM chains (signing, nonce management, gas, confirmations, reorgs)
- Financial-exchange technology: central limit order books, contract trading, liquidity bridges
- Conditional Token Framework (CTF)
- Wallet infrastructure — MPC, multisig, Fireblocks/Safe
- Workflow orchestration at scale, and Terraform / IaC
