Brief Description:

We’re looking for a data-driven and people-focused Data Team Lead to guide the analytical direction and day-to-day execution of MyVegas. In this role, you’ll mentor analysts, elevate analytical standards, and turn complex player and product data into clear insights that influence feature development, monetization strategy, and overall game performance. You’ll work closely with product, economy, CRM, and engineering partners to support experimentation, monitoring, and data integrity, ensuring the team delivers fast, reliable, and impactful analysis that drives MyVegas forward.

Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Day-to-Day Leadership: Lead and support the MyVegas data analysts, ensuring smooth execution across analytics, reporting, experimentation, and ongoing product support.

  • Mentorship & Skill Growth: Provide hands-on coaching, conduct regular 1:1s, review analytical outputs, and help team members strengthen their capabilities in SQL, experimentation, casino analytics, and insight generation.

  • Best Practices & Standards: Promote high standards across analysis quality, documentation, dashboard design, and data governance. Ensure consistent methodologies and clear communication across the team.

  • Task Prioritization & Planning: Allocate resources and prioritize tasks according to MyVegas product needs, roadmap milestones, live-ops cycles, and strategic opportunities.

  • Hiring & Onboarding: Participate in hiring, and lead onboarding efforts to integrate new team members quickly and successfully into the MyVegas data environment.

Product & Feature Optimization

  • Experimentation Ownership: Own the full A/B testing process - planning, design, implementation, monitoring, and analysis. Ensure statistical validity and adherence to experimentation golden standards.

  • Feature Performance Analytics: Evaluate new features, machine configurations, progression systems, and economy changes. Understand user behavior and audience reactions to guide product iteration.

  • Player Behavior Insights: Generate deep insights into player engagement loops, spend behaviors, retention drivers, churn dynamics, and VIP activity, turning data into actionable recommendations.

  • Partner to PMs & Game Design: Work closely with MyVegas PMs, game designers, economy owners, and monetization teams to refine hypotheses, evaluate concepts, and influence decision-making through data.

  • Promotion & Campaign Effectiveness: Analyze CRM offers, live-ops events, and promotional campaigns to identify performance drivers and opportunities for optimization.

Performance Measurement & Monitoring

  • KPI Framework Ownership: Maintain and evolve KPI structures including DAU, ARPDAU, LTV, segmentation, monetization funnels, retention curves, and economy health metrics.

  • Daily & Real-Time Monitoring: Oversee daily dashboards and live performance tracking. Surface anomalies, risks, and emerging trends early and clearly.

  • Alerts Management: Establish, monitor, and continuously improve alerting systems to detect anomalies, performance drops, and data issues. Ensure alert relevance, reduce noise, and refine thresholds to support rapid response.

  • Dashboard Development: Build and maintain high-quality dashboards in Mode/Tableau that support PMs, CRM, UA, economy teams, and studio leadership with accessible and actionable views.

  • Reporting & Presentations: Deliver weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc performance reviews for MyVegas leaders and the casino division. Present insights clearly, visually, and with strong business relevance.

  • Release Validation: Partner with product, engineering, and QA to validate data integrity and performance impacts related to version releases, ensuring monitoring readiness and preventing regressions.

Cross-Team & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Central Stakeholder Interface: Serve as the primary data contact for MyVegas across product, CRM, design, UA, BI, economy, and studio leadership.

  • Alignment with Central Data Groups: Collaborate effectively with DS, DE, portfolio, and infrastructure teams to leverage shared tools, models, and pipelines.

  • Best Practice Sharing: Contribute MyVegas learnings to broader casino discussions, supporting collaboration and knowledge exchange across games.

Data Infrastructure & Governance (Execution Level)

  • Pipeline Oversight: Ensure that MyVegas data pipelines are stable, accurate, and fully supportive of analytics, experimentation, and monitoring needs. Partner with data engineering to resolve issues swiftly.

  • Metrics & Data Quality: Maintain consistent metric definitions and ensure accuracy across dashboards, reports, and experiments.

  • Data Operational Excellence: Drive efficiency and reliability in data collection, processing, and delivery. Reduce friction and enable faster insights, higher experimentation velocity, and strong cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on analytical experience, with a strong preference for experience in gaming analytics.

  • 2+ years leading data analysts and/or economists, including coaching, prioritization, and day-to-day leadership.

  • BA/B.Sc. in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Economics.

  • Strong SQL proficiency, with experience working on large and complex datasets.

  • Structured, methodological approach to analytics, enabling clear, reliable, and impactful insights.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and data quality.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts and presenting clear, actionable insights to product and business partners.

  • Solid understanding of free-to-play and social gaming, including monetization mechanics, player behavior, and core game loops.

Advantages

  • M.Sc. or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline.

  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, R) for analytics, modeling, or automation.

  • Background in mobile gaming or social casino, with exposure to VIP behaviors, economy design, or feature experimentation.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Mode, or PowerBI.

  • Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks, experiment design, and statistical evaluation.

  • Experience working with AI or ML tools to accelerate insights, automate processes, or support data-driven personalization.
