Backend Software Engineer – Node.js - (26000016)
About the Job
As a Backend Software Engineer at Edgehawk Security, you will be a lead contributor to our api gateway, the central nervous system of our security infrastructure. This role is focused on building high-scale, resilient backend services that manage and process critical security data in real-time. You will work at the intersection of cybersecurity and distributed systems, ensuring our controller can handle high-throughput traffic and complex data orchestration across high-performance databases and security protocols.
What You’ll Do
- Architect Core Services: Develop and maintain domain-specific services using a modular, service-oriented architecture.
- Master Data Orchestration: Manage complex data flows across a diverse stack, including MongoDB for persistence, Kafka for messaging, Redis for high-speed caching, and ClickHouse for massive-scale analytical data.
- Secure the Gateway: Manage identity and access control by integrating and extending Keycloak for secure, centralized authentication.
- Optimize Performance: Implement advanced patterns like data chunking and asynchronous processing to handle large-scale security configurations and time-series metrics in InfluxDB.
- Own the Lifecycle: Manage the full development lifecycle—from writing unit tests with Jest to containerizing applications with Docker and deploying via Kubernetes.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience (Required):
3+ years of professional backend development experience, with hands-on responsibility for building and maintaining production systems. - Node.js Ecosystem (Advantage):
Strong experience with Node.js and its ecosystem, including designing scalable, modular backend services. - Databases & Analytics (Advantage):
Experience working with a combination of:- NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Time-series databases like InfluxDB
- High-performance analytical databases, particularly ClickHouse
- Networking & Security (Advantage):
Familiarity with modern authentication and authorization solutions such as Keycloak, OIDC, or SAML, and a solid understanding of securing RESTful APIs. - Infrastructure & Distributed Systems (Advantage):
Experience with:- Redis for caching or state management
- Kafka or similar systems for event-driven architectures
- Running services in Linux-based, containerized environments
- Engineering Practices (Advantage):
A strong focus on code quality, including experience with Jest, test-first or test-driven development, and writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
Why Join Edgehawk Security?
- High-Impact Work: You aren't just building another CRUD app; you are building tools that protect critical infrastructure from sophisticated cyber threats.
- Advanced Tech Stack: Work with a cutting-edge, containerized environment using ClickHouse, Kafka, and Keycloak to solve the industry's toughest data and security challenges.
- Ownership & Autonomy: We value engineers who take initiative. You’ll have the freedom to influence the architecture of the controller-rest-api and see your changes deployed directly to the front lines of security.
- Growth Culture: Join a team where technical excellence is the standard and where "modular design" and "intellectual curiosity" are the primary drivers of our success.
