The Opportunity
Pharma Technical Technology (PTT) in Pharma Technical Operations (PT) drives industrialization and product management, focusing on SHE, maintenance, facility fitness, performance optimization, and scalable processes for robust, efficient, and reliable products.
The Manufacturing Science and Technology (gMSAT) team within PTT manages commercial products, new technologies, standardization, and risk mitigation.
The Process Steward Group Lead oversees a team ensuring product industrialization, process robustness, efficiency, and second-level support for issues, including commercial transfers. They lead process stewards and technicians, resolve challenges through data insights and experimentation, and represent process needs in technical and stakeholder meetings.
- Lead a network of 10+ senior process experts, focusing on action and execution, to drive systematic process improvements. Accountable for coaching, development, and engagement of the global technical team
- Manage portfolio master plans for DS or DP, identify and oversee execution of process and tech transfer risk mitigation strategies, and ensure alignment across the portfolio for global technical initiatives
- Set the vision and strategy for process requirements and improvements in alignment with internal and external manufacturing networks. Actively contribute to PTT’s vision and priorities
- Support Product Technical Leads and Product Stewards for seamless product industrialization, and drive systematic process improvements. Provide hands-on second-level support for investigations, CAPAs, troubleshooting, and manage second source transfer responsibilities
- Leverage the pilot plant team for real-life and scaled experimentation to support process-related projects and validation studies, and oversee complex cross-functional projects aimed at process improvements and efficiency gains
- Collaborate with Technical Development, Quality, Manufacturing Sites, and tech transfer teams to align on process requirements, improvements, and technology deployments, ensuring quality milestones are met across the portfolio
- Act as a thought leader and advocate for digital and data initiatives, driving and promoting these initiatives with a PT perspective. Guide prioritization and evaluation of long-term product health and continuous improvement investments, and ensure the team has the processes, platforms, and tools for successful delivery
Who you are
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical, Biochemical Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience in process development, operations/manufacturing, or related roles in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. A PhD is advantageous
- Significant people leadership experience leveraging advanced VACC leadership skills. Proven deep technical expertise in DS or DP process development, improvement, and technology industrialization of large molecules, with a background in quality and/or regulatory being beneficial
- Align with Roche’s leadership model by combining strategic clarity with innovative and coaching capabilities. Outstanding communicator who can build connections, encourage feedback, and foster a collaborative environment

- Willingness to travel less than 10% as required
