International Missions Lead
- RD/External Relations/Fundraising
Description
We are looking for an experienced International Missions Lead to join our global Encounters Team within the Fundraising Division.
Position Summary
The International Missions Lead is a senior member of JDC’s Global Encounters team within the Fundraising Division. This role is responsible for the end-to-end design, execution, and continuous elevation of highly tailored international mission experiences that strengthen donor relationships and reflect the depth, dignity, and strategic priorities of JDC’s global work.
Each mission is custom-built for a specific donor, foundation, lay leader, or strategic partner. No two visits are alike. The International Missions Lead must understand donor psychology, cultivation strategy, and organizational priorities — and translate them into compelling, coherent, and purpose-driven experiences.
This role requires intellectual rigor, narrative sophistication, operational precision, financial stewardship, and the ability to lead complex processes involving senior stakeholders across multiple geographies.
Nothing is too small to oversee. Nothing is too ambitious to envision.
What will you be doing?
Bespoke Mission Strategy & Donor-Centered Design
· Partner with US-based fundraising colleagues to understand donor profiles, motivations, history, and cultivation goals.
· Design fully customized mission experiences aligned with relationship-building strategy.
· Build thoughtful narrative arcs for each visit, ensuring clarity of purpose and progression.
· Reinvent the framework for every mission — avoiding templated or repetitive programming.
· Ensure each experience reflects both humanitarian authenticity and fundraising intentionality.
Process Leadership & Senior Stakeholder Management
· Lead end-to-end planning processes across headquarters, US office, and international field teams.
· Coordinate collaboration with senior professionals, regional directors, and leadership-level stakeholders.
· Navigate differing institutional priorities with diplomacy and maturity.
· Influence without formal authority to drive alignment and timely decisions.
· Hold accountability for achieving strong outcomes for all partners — with particular focus on donor experience and satisfaction.
· Maintain momentum and clarity in complex, multi-layered planning environments.
Narrative Design & Speaker Preparation
· Prepare beneficiaries, field professionals, and senior leaders for mission engagements.
· Help speakers distill their experiences into clear, compelling narratives tailored to each specific audience.
· Shape stories that balance authenticity, dignity, emotional resonance, and strategic relevance.
· Guide presenters in structuring remarks for clarity, coherence, and impact.
· Ensure messaging alignment with broader fundraising and engagement objectives.
· Uphold the highest ethical standards in how beneficiary stories are presented.
Experience Architecture: Emotional & Intellectual Balance
· Curate encounters that move visitors emotionally, inspire hope and action, or provide deep intellectual engagement grounded in data and policy.
· Translate complex humanitarian work into accessible yet substantive experiences.
· Balance storytelling with analytical rigor.
· Ensure coherence between site visits, meetings, briefings, and debriefs.
Operational Excellence & Execution
· Oversee all logistical aspects of international missions.
· Develop comprehensive run-of-show documents integrating program flow, content, timing, and operational detail.
· Coordinate travel, venues, materials, transportation, security considerations, and contingency planning.
· Anticipate risks and manage real-time adjustments with composure.
· Ensure excellence in both grand design and minute detail.
Budget Planning and Implementation
· Develop mission budgets aligned with fundraising strategy and organizational guidelines.
· Forecast costs and monitor expenditures throughout planning and execution.
· Exercise sound financial judgment in vendor selection and resource allocation.
· Coordinate with finance teams and US counterparts on approvals and reporting.
· Ensure responsible stewardship of institutional and donor-related resources.
Cross-Regional & Cross-Cultural Collaboration
· Serve as a central connector between the US office and global field teams.
· Operate effectively in a matrixed, international organization.
· Manage relationships across diverse cultural contexts with sensitivity and diplomacy.
· Align expectations between headquarters and field realities.
· Navigate geopolitical and operational complexity with sound judgment.
Qualifications
· 7–10+ years of relevant experience in international development, fundraising, mission planning, or complex cross-border project leadership.
· Demonstrated ability to lead processes involving senior stakeholders.
· Proven experience designing structured programs or experiential learning journeys.
· Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
· High emotional intelligence and cultural fluency.
· Experience managing budgets and financial accountability.
· Full professional fluency in English and Hebrew (required).
· Additional languages are a strong advantage.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to drive (required).
· Willingness to travel internationally.
