Your Role:

Tenable is looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Writer to join the Research and Development Content team, primarily supporting our cloud security product portfolio. This position requires someone who is self-motivated, has strong leadership instincts, and can translate complex cloud security concepts into clear, accessible documentation for a technical audience. The ability to work effectively with remote and cross-functional teams is essential.

Your Opportunity:

  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and technical learning by establishing scalable documentation methodologies and mentoring peers on emerging industry trends.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and key stakeholders (e.g., developers, product managers, customer support) to gather and translate complex technical information into clear, customer-facing documentation.
  • Plan and manage documentation projects, including scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for specific cloud security domains by identifying feature changes and independently validating workflows in dev/staging environments.
  • Write, edit, and review technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Develop and enforce documentation standards and style guides across the organization.
  • Analyze documentation engagement metrics and stakeholder feedback to identify friction points, driving iterative improvements that enhance end-user content.
  • Manage documentation releases for high-frequency, weekly product releases, in accordance with the SDLC, and communicate updates to internal and external audiences.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices, including AI-assisted documentation tools and workflows.

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience, with demonstrated leadership or mentorship responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A team-player mindset with the ability to pivot quickly as product priorities shift and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • An inquisitive nature and fearless curiosity to explore technical features hands-on, asking the deep questions required to simplify complex security concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for meticulous grammar, formatting, and clarity.
  • Experience following a style guide, especially the Microsoft Manual of Style.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritization, and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with source control (especially Git) and content management systems.
  • Experience with AI writing assistants or LLMs, including incorporating them into documentation workflows (e.g., prompt engineering, automated doc generation) and critically evaluating AI-generated content).

And Ideally:

  • Experience with GraphQL/Swagger/OpenAPI or writing best practices documentation.
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket) and/or MadCap Flare.
  • Knowledge of information security and cloud infrastructure security.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or Python.
