Head of Control Engineering – Technical Lead (553)

Utron’s Control Engineering team stands at the technological heart of our advanced automated Logistics and parking robotic systems.

We are seeking a highly experienced Control Systems Technical Leader who combines deep hands-on expertise in industrial automation with the ability to lead engineers, shape architecture, and take full technical ownership of complex multidisciplinary systems.

This role is first and foremost a senior technical leadership position. It is designed for a seasoned control engineer with extensive experience in real-world control systems, motion applications, and system integration, who continues to lead from the front technically while managing and mentoring a team.

What you’ll do:

Senior Technical Leadership, Hands-On

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for control systems across all products
  • Lead PLC architecture and motion control design for complex robotic and automated systems
  • Develop, review, and optimize PLC code, Logic and Motion, according to best engineering standards
  • Make system-level design decisions, including safety, redundancy, communication, and scalability
  • Design and integrate industrial communication networks across multiple subsystems
  • Work hands-on with motors, VFDs, encoders, load cells, scanners, safety PLCs, and robotic mechanisms
  • Lead complex debugging efforts across software, hardware, and field environments
  • Design and validate simulators, test benches, and advanced validation setups
  • This position requires strong real-world experience with industrial control systems, not only software development but full system behavior understanding.


Team Leadership & Professional Ownership

  • Lead, mentor, and professionally guide the Control Engineering team
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex control and motion challenges
  • Manage task planning, prioritization, and execution across concurrent projects
  • Conduct in-depth code reviews and technical design reviews
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and professional growth of engineers
  • Conduct structured performance reviews and career development planning
  • Promote engineering excellence, structured thinking, and accountability

System Integration & Delivery Responsibility

  • Work closely with R&D, Mechanical, Software, QA, Product, and Operations
  • Translate system and product requirements into robust control architectures
  • Lead integration, commissioning, and validation both in the office and in the field
  • Own schedules, risk management, and technical delivery within the control domain
  • Lead root cause analysis of field issues and implement long-term corrective actions

Requirements:

  • BSc in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent military technological background
  • 7+ years of proven, hands-on experience in industrial automation and PLC programming
  • Extensive experience with complex control systems, motion control, and multidisciplinary integration
  • Strong background in Siemens or Unitronics PLC platforms, Logic and Motion applications
  • Proven experience as a technical lead or senior control engineer
  • Deep system-level understanding, including hardware-software interaction
  • Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving approach
  • High level of ownership, technical authority, and leadership capability
