About the Role A large, stable public-sector organization is seeking a Cloud Data Infrastructure Lead to spearhead a strategic project: building an advanced data platform on GCP (Google Cloud Platform). This role combines high-level strategic leadership with hands-on technical execution, offering the opportunity to shape the organization's enterprise data architecture from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- End-to-End Leadership: Lead the establishment of the cloud data platform, from initial architecture design to full-scale production.
- Project Management: Oversee timelines, budgeting, resource planning, and progress monitoring.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with diverse stakeholders, including Infrastructure, Security (Cyber), BI, R&D, Core Systems, and external vendors.
- Hands-on GCP Execution: Deploy infrastructure, conduct POCs, and perform advanced troubleshooting within the GCP environment.
- Data Engineering: Design and build data components and pipelines (Data Pipelines, BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, etc.).
- Architecture Design: Implement Data Lake / Data Warehouse architectures (Raw → Stage → Curated layers).
- Data Governance: Enforce security standards, IAM policies, monitoring, and auditing protocols.
- Cloud Migration: Lead the transition of data assets from On-Premise environments to the Cloud.
- Risk Management: Identify potential bottlenecks and develop mitigation plans to ensure project continuity.
- Reporting: Provide regular status updates and progress reports to senior management.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively: A relevant degree + 60 hours of certified Product Management training.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in managing data products or complex technological data projects.
- Technical Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Infrastructure, or Data Architecture – Must.
- Cloud Proficiency: Practical experience with Cloud platforms (GCP preference) – Must.
- Data Foundations: Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and database management.
- Big Data Tools: Experience with large-scale data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery) – Significant Advantage.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading complex, multi-interface projects in an enterprise environment.
