Description
We are looking for a Special Cargos Specialist that will handle the following:
- Performing the proper checking and approval process of all Special Cargo shipments.
- Supporting the HO, Region and BU’s Operational and Commercial Teams as well as Planners, on Special Cargoes issues.
The position includes 2 shifts (Morning/Evening) + Friday (Morning shift – until 14:00).
Main Responsibilities:
Checking and approval of SC
- Responsible for preforming the checking and approval process of the Special Cargo shipments exported/ imported/ T/S from/to the region, in efficient, fast and safe manner, and as per procedures.
- Supports the HO, Region and BU’s Operational and Commercial Teams as well as Planners.
Regional SC Experts
- Acting as part of the Region’s team of Experts on Special Cargoes, in regards to advice and support.
- Part of the Region Special Cargo Team and the Special Cargo Center’s daily operation and performance.
- Performs a high standard of service levels required from the center and team, in line with the SC KPI’s.
- Performs his tasks as per the SC Working Processes in the region, in line with the relevant procedures.
Training
- Assisting and supporting the SC Centers in other regions, on SC related issues, in an efficient and fast way.
- Obligatory DG training as per IMOT requirements.
Updating on SC Restrictions
- Updates the Center’s Manager and the HO SC Division, with:
- Any SC related incidents in which the company’s SC procedures were not fully followed, and about any delay to vessel due to SC on board, etc.
- Any new region/ports/terminal/partners SC Restrictions, or any changes in existing restrictions.
- Identifies and Updates the Center’s Manager, with: recommendations/suggestions on SC Procedures, Working Process, SC Software improvements, etc. in order to improve the SC Performance.
Requirements
- Academic degree – mandatory
- Shipping industry experience – essential
- Operational and/or commercial background, preferably in agency operations or experience as a deck officer in the merchant marine
- Solid understanding of special cargo types, including dangerous goods (DG) and out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo- an advantage
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
